Position Summary
This position reports to the Tutor Supervisor and the Summer@Carroll Director. Tutors provide individualized Orton-Gillingham instruction to students enrolled in Summer@Carroll. This position requires a candidate with experience teaching students with language-based learning differences.
Responsibilities
- Work with students in 1:1 or paired tutorials to teach the Orton-Gillingham curriculum that is specific to Carroll School.
- Research and select learning materials to facilitate tutoring; design individualized multi-sensory materials.
- Attend mandatory Staff Orientation along with a required departmental meeting mid program.
- Contribute weekly updates on tutorial for families (using Seesaw).
- Complete academic reports detailing progress and areas of concern for each individual student.
- Share progress with parents in conferences at the conclusion of the summer program.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree and experience working with children in an academic setting
- Associate Level Orton-Gillingham training course with practicum
- Experience teaching students with language-based learning differences
- Knowledge of test administration techniques and procedures
- Ability to teach using multi-sensory methods of instruction

Position Summary
This position is assigned to one or two grades within the range of grades 3-4 (Waltham), grades 5-7 (Lincoln), or grades 8-9 (Lincoln). Writing teachers report to the Writing Supervisor and the Summer@Carroll Director. Summer@Carroll writing teachers provide direct and explicit, multisensory writing instruction that is tailored to the needs of each of their small groups. This position requires a candidate with experience teaching students with language-based learning differences.
Responsibilities
- Work with students in small groups (approximately 8 students) to directly teach skills and strategies that support written expression.
- Research and select instructional materials to provide small-group instruction, and to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
- Design lessons that focus on the writing process and incorporate the use of graphic organizers and revision checklists.
- Attend the mandatory Staff Orientation along with a required departmental meeting mid program.
- Contribute weekly updates on writing for families (using Seesaw).
- Complete academic reports detailing progress and areas of concern for each individual student.
- For High School Readiness teachers, work with other HSR teachers to host conferences for the students on the last day of the program.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree and experience working with children in an academic setting
- Experience teaching students with language-based learning differences
- Ability to teach using multi-sensory methods of instruction
- Readiness to collaborate effectively with the administrative team and other staff of Summer@Carroll; be proactive and success-oriented

Position Summary
This position is a member of the Summer@Carroll Counseling Department and reports to the School Counseling Supervisor and Director of Summer@Carroll. Primary responsibilities include the provision of services to students, parents and teachers of the school regarding social, emotional, health and/or family-related concerns. Each school counselor serves one program within Summer@Carroll: Beginning Readers (entering grades 1-2), Elementary (entering grades 3-4), Middle School (entering grades 5-7), or High School Readiness (entering grades 8-9). Summer@Carroll seeks candidates who are motivated to help students attain a positive sense of identity and self worth and who are eager to equip students with skills and strategies for academic and relational success. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who brings a collaborative style, clinical skills relevant to a school setting, and values a community of highly engaged, compassionate, and motivated educators. Summer@Carroll welcomes candidates with experience and/or interest in culturally responsive approaches and practices.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual counseling and/or crisis intervention services for Summer@Carroll students identified as having adjustment issues or concerns regarding social/emotional functioning.
- Partner with TA/Enrichment Counselors, Enrichment Supervisor, and Summer@Carroll Directors to foster healthy summer community that is focused on meeting the needs of students.
- Maintain communication with parents, enrichment staff, teachers, and outside providers regarding the social/emotional needs and functioning of students.
- Function as an integral participant of team and provide consultation to faculty and enrichment staff around social-emotional components of language-based learning differences.
- Collaborate with other departments (e.g. Writing, Math,Tutoring,TCI) to coordinate efforts for student support.
- Attend Administrative Team Meetings to address student concerns.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Masters Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field
- LICSW/LMHC or license-eligible strongly preferred
- Experience in a school environment preferred
- Excellent relational skills and a strong capacity to relate to students and parents

Position Summary
This position reports to the Enrichment Supervisor for their campus. The Activity Director role is a full-day position on either our Waltham (grades 1-4) or Lincoln (grades 5-9) campus. Each Activity Director will be assigned to one age range: grades 1-2, 3-4, or 5-9. Summer@Carroll Activity Directors plan and lead students through activities each afternoon in a variety of recreational and multi arts subject areas. This position requires a candidate with a flexible, creative, and collaborative mindset.
Responsibilities
- Attend mandatory Staff Orientation on June 26-27, 2025.
- Generate ideas and develop specific plans for 2-3 developmentally appropriate recreational activities for each afternoon.
- Communicate activity instructions clearly to large groups of students and staff.
- Coach and instruct Junior and TA Enrichment Counselors on how best to support student participation in planned activities.
- Plan activities with content that varies over the course of the program, addressing a balance of topics such as field games, creative arts, movement, water play, science, team building, etc.
- Facilitate structured opportunities for students to connect socially and explore different areas of interest.
- Inventory, request, and organize supplies needed for afternoon activities.
- Collaborate with other Activity Directors to support the needs of the group.
- Communicate with colleagues to organize the sharing of materials, campus spaces, weekly themes, etc.
- Support needs that may arise in academic or afternoon programming (e.g., substitute in case of teacher absence, provide extra support to a student in a morning academic class, etc.).
- Communicate and collaborate with the School Counselor so that any student social-emotional challenges that arise may be addressed.
- Update Enrichment Supervisor regarding any issues impacting the students’ readiness to positively interact within the group.

- Bachelor’s Degree and experience working with children
- Previous summer program/camp experience
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to be reflective and grow from administrative feedback

Position Summary
Enrichment Supervisor is a full day managerial position in charge of Enrichment staff for grades 1-4 on the Waltham campus. The primary responsibility of the Enrichment Supervisor is to organize all enrichment activities in the afternoon. Additional responsibilities include training of young enrichment staff members, parent communication around enrichment issues, and collaboration with academic staff. Each year there are approximately 90-100 campers in grades 1-4 who attend summer school in the morning followed by various activities in the afternoon.
Responsibilities
- Staff training for Activity Directors, TA/Enrichment Counselors, Junior Enrichment Counselors
- As needed, pre-summer planning and coordination with the Lincoln Enrichment Supervisor and Directors team
- Facilitate team building and training activities for the enrichment staff each morning to promote healthy enrichment culture
- Oversee the daily planning of afternoon activities
- Attend Administrative Team Meetings to address student concerns
- Works directly with school counselor and enrichment staff to ensure a positive experience for each student
- Attends and participates in the Admin Team Orientation on Wednesday, June 25
- Works with Summer@Carroll Directors to plan, present and participate in activities during the 2-day staff orientation (June 26-June 27)
- Plan with activity directors to make sure there are appropriate activities and equipment available during free choice times (before the start of the day, recess, etc.)
- Monitor and support staff so that all personnel are engaged with students
- Train and delegate tasks to the Junior Counselors: recess/snack break prep, lunch prep, afternoon activities set up, etc.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- History of working in a management or supervisory role
- Previous summer program/camp experience
- Background in working with students with diverse learning profiles
- Ability to effectively communicate with parents around students needs
- Experience working with students who are struggling to meet behavioral expectations
