Right now, I’m somewhere in the vast Southwest — living out of a classic mini school bus with nine fellow classmates as part of Proctor’s legendary Mountain Classroom program. No phones, no laptops, no screens — just us, the open road, and the kind of raw, unfiltered adventure that forces you to be fully present.
We’ve been hiking red rock canyons, watching sunsets that paint the entire sky, and learning to live simply while our little bus carries us from one stunning landscape to the next. This off-campus term has been transformative in ways I never expected — from cooking vegan, non-dairy, gluten-free meals on a camp stove to navigating group dynamics in tight quarters, all while surrounded by some of the most breathtaking places in the country.
Come May, I’ll be walking across the stage to graduate from Proctor Academy. Between now and then (amidst the desert stars and dusty trails), I’m hoping to make one more big decision: choosing the college where I’ll study mechanical and materials engineering next fall. It’s an exciting — and slightly daunting — chapter ahead, but I feel incredibly prepared thanks to the foundation both Carroll and Proctor have given me.

I was a 4th grade teacher at Carroll from 2003-2013. I left to start my family and I now have 3 kids, all of whom are neurodivergent and keep me on my toes with their creativity, deep thinking and passionate feelings. I completed another degree in 2020, this time in Gifted & Talented Education. From 2020-2025 I lead a nonprofit devoted to supporting families, educating teachers, and advocating for laws and policies to support gifted and twice exceptional students - kids who are so often the outliers in traditional schooling models. Now I am taking a step back to focus on my family and a major home renovation. I frequently tell stories about my time teaching at Carroll. While I miss the joy of being in the community each day, I love watching Carroll grow and thrive.
