Extended Day & Athletics

Extended day programs are designed to provide enrichment, athletics, STEM, and other activities for students after the school day ends at 3:15 pm on Mondays through Thursdays.

Extended Day & Athletics Info

  • Open to all students in Grades 6-9 (except where noted)
  • 3:15 - 4:45 pm
  • Fall Session ends on November 20, 2018
  • Winter Session: Tuesday, November 27, 2018 through Thursday, February 14, 2019
  • Sports and activities take place at multiple locations: students will be transported to activity at end of the school day, please note pick-up location of the activity

How to Enroll

  • Winter enrollment opens on Monday, November 5, 2018 at noon EST and closes on Friday, November 16, 2018 (or sooner if activity fills).
  • Payment is required to secure your child’s spot in a program.
  • Registration/payment must be completed on the Smart Tuition website. We strongly recommend you follow these step-by-step instructions.
  • Once a program is full it will no longer be displayed on the Smart Tuition website.
  • Activities may be cancelled if minimum enrollment is not met.

Winter Activities + Athletics (Nov 27, 2018 - Feb 14, 2019)

Mondays/Wednesdays

Winter Bounders
Max: 8
Fee: $206
Pick-up Location: Lincoln

Students will have an opportunity to experience adventure-based winter outdoor activities. This may include forest games, fire building, camp crafting, snowshoeing, sledding, snow shelter building and animal tracking. Students should come prepared with the proper clothing to be outside during the winter months for a few hours at a time. All abilities are welcome. Also, please remember that students will need to be prepared as much as possible to be outside in all types of seasonal weather.

Science Club

Hands on science, experiment with a multitude of science including: Slime, Polymers, Chemistry, Magnetism, Solar and Physics. If you like science, this club is for you.

Tuesdays/Thursdays

Art

Explore and experiment with after school ART: Students will create individual projects in many exciting materials including drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, mixed media and jewelry.

Fab Lab
Max: 10

Come to the Learning Commons and Fab Lab and learn cutting edge 21st century skills and have fun doing it. Students will learn the basics of design thinking and create the neatest projects around. Each session students will create their own projects using one or more of the many creative tools available to us: graphic design, laser cutting, 3D printing, stop motion, coding, green screen, and so much more. If you like to make things, then this is the club for you. Come unleash your creativity and learn exciting new skills that allow you to make your ideas a reality.

Supervised Study
Max: 16
Fees: $103 for 1 day/week; $206 for 2 days/week; $309 for 3 days/week; $412 for 4 days/week
Pick-up Locations: Lincoln for Middle School students and Wayland for Upper School students

Supervised Study will provide your child the opportunity to complete some of their homework. This is not a tutorial, but time for the working parent’s child to have the opportunity to start their homework. There is a good chance that students may not get their work completed. If students are finished with their homework, they must read for the remaining Extended Day session. This is not a time for students to socialize, play games, or to listen to music.

Ice Hockey

We practice on Fridays (see dates below) after school, and we typically have 8 to 10 non-checking games against other independent day schools. These games are scheduled Monday-Friday.

In an effort to keep everyone safe on the ice, there will be two different teams based on prior hockey experience . We recommend that players have had exposure to skating and at least one year of organized hockey. Please contact Mike Kmetz for more information.

Practice will be Fridays from 1:30-2:30 with a 3:15 pm pick-up. Practice Dates:

  • 2018: Nov 30, Dec 7, & 14
  • 2019: Jan 4, 11, 18, 25 & Feb 1,8, 15




Friday Programs

Every Friday, students are released at 12:15 pm. Friday programs are designed to provide fun activities and field trips for students on most of these Fridays.

Skiing & Snowboarding Info

Carroll School is excited to once again offer our ski/snowboard program at Nashoba Valley. This program runs on Fridays beginning January 4, 2019 and ending February 15, 2019. We anticipate a great season with lots of snow. Even if the snow is scarce, Nashoba does a tremendous job with snowmaking.

All skiers and riders must have experience. Please find the specifics of the program below and we hope to see you on the slopes.

$55 per week

IMPORTANT INFO

  • HELMETS REQUIRED for all activities.
  • Rentals – We highly recommend that rentals be arranged through Nashoba Valley prior to the start of the program. This makes the process easier for your child. You can contact Nashoba directly at 978-692-3033. Ski/Board and boots - $25 per week; Helmet - $12 per week
  • No refunds or credits
  • Considering the long day involved in a Friday Program, it is important to pack a lunch or order a lunch for your child. We will have time to eat before the afternoon activities get started.
  • Pick-up time is at 4:30 at the Lincoln Campus.
