Dates: June 24-August 2, 2024

Trainees will teach reading and spelling skills using the Orton-Gillingham approach, a structured alphabetic-phonetic system that employs visual, auditory, tactile, and kinesthetic pathways to learning. Reading and spelling are treated as interacting disciplines. Using the Orton-Gillingham approach, trainees will learn to individualize instruction to meet the needs of each student.

This intensive six-week course is designed for teachers. Trainees will meet daily from 8:30 to 3:30 pm for introductory seminars in late June. After the first five days of seminars, trainees will begin daily, individualized tutoring sessions with students. Throughout the course, trainees will attend coursework seminars four afternoons each week.

The Summer Course provides 70 hours of coursework and 75 hours of supervised practicum, totaling 145 contact hours.

Tuition Fee: $3,400
