What Do You Do: Asked, Answered
Carroll Alumni Connect

Recently, a group of 7th grade students asked their teacher Greg Malley, “What do Carroll alumni do (for work)?” In line with Carroll’s theme of Belonging and Becoming, we want to provide answers for our students that include your thoughts about how Carroll, or your dyslexic advantage, informed your career path.

Thanks to those of you who responded!

Alumna Charlotte Kaftan-Luckerman ‘16 shared the following response:

→What is your current job title and place of employment?

Registered Nurse at University of Colorado Hospital

→Please share some highlights about what you do and what you like best about your job.

I love caring for others and providing support during some of their hardest times. I also love being able to advocate for people who may not feel like they have a voice, or are too nervous to stand up for themselves. Another highlight is being able to use science and apply my knowledge of pathophysiology, pharmacology on a daily basis to improve the care and outcomes of my patients. It's the perfect combination of science and being able to help others.

→How has Carroll, or your dyslexic advantage, informed your career path?

When nursing school was hard and I wanted to quit, it was knowing that I can persevere and do hard things. However simple it may be to say that “I can do hard things”, it’s because of Carroll that I truly believe it and know that I can. Carroll provided me with the foundation to follow my dreams and never say “I can’t do it.” Maybe I have to work twice as hard as my classmates, but I can do it!

Be an inspiration to our current students by filling out the very brief form to let us know what you do!
