Rangeley Lakes Canoe Expedition
Bounders Fall 2018 Trip
WHEN: Wednesday, September 5 at 8:15 am through Sunday, September 9 at 4:30 pm
WHO: Grade 8 students, 14 Students Maximum (7 boys, 7 girls)
HOW MUCH: $500
On this trip, students will live outdoors for four nights, traveling in canoe teams through a wild and scenic area of Maine. “Crew not passengers” is an Outward Bound saying that describes our expectations for team members. Students will travel as a self-sufficient expedition team, setting up camp together, cooking group meals, washing dishes, carrying gear, staying organized, and navigating their canoes in pairs. The group’s comfort and contentment will be determined by everyone’s ability to work hard and keep a positive attitude as we face such challenges as poor weather, bugs, portages, and long paddling days. Hard work will be rewarded as students gain confidence in their abilities, form strong bonds, and develop a connection with a wild place. Along the way, students will be able to enjoy the outdoors through fishing, swimming, exploring, camp craft, and hammocking. This trip is designed to set students up for a successful 8th grade year at Carroll.
