Master's Degree of Education
Training future educators through our unique graduate studies program and hands-on residency.
Aspire. Inquire. Desire. Acquire.
The Angela Wilkins Program of Graduate Studies in Education is a dynamic residency-based program. This hands-on residency program prepares you to be equipped to handle the literacy crisis in Massachusetts and beyond.
This intensive 12-month residency program starts in early June and ends the following June. Graduate interns take courses while participating in a full-time immersive residency in classrooms at Carroll School. Unlike other teacher preparation programs, graduate interns also receive nationally-accredited Orton-Gillingham training and certification, at no additional cost.

Coursework
Graduate interns take courses at Carroll, in such topics as:
- Science of Reading and Structured Literacy
- Assessment and Data-Informed Instruction
- Neuroscience of Teaching & Learning
- Inclusive and Culturally Responsive Education
- Instructional Design, Collaboration, and Classroom Practice

Compass Fellowship
In an effort to address the greatest need of each child, we recognize that lived experiences of educators are as essential to a child’s learning experience equally as the effectiveness of teachers. The Fellowship is a 12-month intensive residency-based graduate program. It provides an opportunity for 2 educators from historically marginalized communities to obtain a collaborative dual masters degree and licensure in Moderate Disabilities PreK-8 and Elementary 1-6, including free Orton-Gillingham training and certification. In addition to Fellowship tuition monies, both Fellows receive a living stipend.
