The application process is designed to help us, and your family, determine if our summer program is the right fit for your child. Our admission process is thoughtful and comprehensive. To that end, our process may vary slightly from family to family so that we may learn about each child more fully.

Before you get started on the application, here is what you need to know.

Limited financial assistance is available for qualifying Summer@Carroll families. Some families may also receive funding from their school districts to attend Summer@Carroll. For questions, please email Summer Admissions.

Student Profiles

Beginning Readers

Our Beginning Readers camp is for bright children entering 1st or 2nd grade who struggle with pre-reading and language skills. They may have been formally diagnosed with a specific learning disability (SLD) or a language-based learning disability (LBLD); or identified as "at risk" in an early literacy screening. Please see below for application requirements.

Elementary & Middle School

The Elementary and Middle School programs are for bright children entering grades 3-7 who have been diagnosed with a Specific Learning Disability (SLD) or a Language-Based Learning Disability (LBLD), such as dyslexia. Some applicants may also have challenges with executive function and/or attentional issues. Please see below for application requirements.

High School Readiness

Our High School Readiness program is for bright children entering 8th and 9th grade who may have executive function challenges that affect academic performance. HSR applicants may have Language-Based Learning Difficulties (LBLD); however, Orton-Gillingham tutoring is not typically offered in this program. The HSR program focuses on organization and study skills in preparation for high school. Please see below for application requirements.


Application TIMELINE

All applicants must submit a new application in Ravenna for Summer@Carroll 2020. Our application will be available in mid-October 2019. 

For returning and waitlisted students from Summer@Carroll 2019, we invite you to apply for early consideration. Please complete your application by December 13, 2019 and decisions will be released by January 13, 2020. 

For new families, decisions will be released on a rolling basis beginning in late January 2020. We strongly encourage you to complete your application early as our program fills quickly.

Step 1

Create or Access Ravenna Account

 

Summer@Carroll uses a web-based portal called Ravenna. Through Ravenna, you will be able to manage your child's application online - including applying to both academic-year and summer programs at one time, delegating teacher/tutor evaluations, and uploading documents such as neuropsychological/academic testing, report card, student writing sample, and IEP.

Step 2

Add or Review the Student Profile

In Ravenna, you will set-up a profile for your child/ren. If you already have a student profile set-up in Ravenna, make sure their current grade and current school are accurate.

Start the Application Process

In Ravenna, choose "Apply to School" and select "Carroll School and Summer@Carroll" from the school directory. After you click the green “Apply” button, select the student and your application type: Academic Year, Academic Year & Summer@Carroll, or Summer@Carroll. Complete the remaining fields and click continue.

Step 4

Complete the Preliminary Application

Complete the Preliminary Application and pay the application fee in Ravenna. Our Admissions team will not be able to view any of your application materials until you submit the application fee. If this fee presents a financial hardship for your family, please let us know and we will provide a waiver code..

Upload Important Documents

After you pay the application fee or submit a waiver code, you will see a list of required documents. Please follow the instructions for uploading documents and delegating teacher/tutor evaluations. Be sure to remind the teacher/tutor to check their spam/junk folder for the email from Ravenna if it's not in their inbox.

Step 6

Application Review

After you have uploaded all required documents, your completed application will be reviewed. A member of the Summer@Carroll Admissions team will be in touch with you regarding next steps.
