SUMMER@CARROLL SPEAKER SERIES 2012

This speaker series is specifically designed for parents who have students enrolled in Summer@Carroll. The weekly presentations follow the drop-off of students at 8:30. There is a charge of $10.00 per person for each presentation, with all funds benefiting the Summer@Carroll Scholarship Fund. Advanced registration is encouraged because space is limited.

Special 5 for price of 3 package: $30.00 per person for all five presentations with advanced payment. Save $20!

Wednesday, June 27: What Is the Orton-Gillingham Language Approach?
This presentation provides an overview of the characteristics of the Orton-Gillingham approach. The presenter will describe each of these characteristics and how it relates to reading and spelling instruction. Specific strategies will be discussed and suggestions will be given to help parents support their students outside of the classroom.

Wednesday, July 25: Building Better Brains for Reading in 2012 and Beyond
An incredible flow of research on the human brain is helping us understand how best to help children with language learning difficulties. This presentation is designed to help make some of this research understandable for parents. The brain research can help parents make more informed decisions about the types of programs and instruction that are more likely to be effective with their children.
