Student Profile
Elementary/ Middle School (grades 3-7)
Who Should Attend?
Student Profile: The Elementary/Middle School program is for children who have been diagnosed with a Specific Learning Disability (SLD) in Reading or a Language-Based Learning Disability (LBLD), such as dyslexia. Our academic approach is cognitive in nature so potential students need to be at least in the average range of intellectual ability. Some Summer@Carroll applicants may have average to above average verbal and non-verbal abilities but have weaknesses in working memory and/or processing skills. Many applicants may also have executive function or attention issues. As long as these do not interfere with the student’s ability to learn, then Summer@Carroll may be appropriate. Each applicant should have had some testing and evaluation within the last three years. Most Summer@Carroll applicants are on Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) but this is not a requirement. Summer@Carroll is not designed to meet the needs of students with primary emotional or behavioral difficulties
Elementary/Middle School (entering Grades 3-7) is full for 2013 -- No longer accepting applications.
