Beginning Readers (grades 1-2)
Who Should Attend?
Student Profile: Beginning Readers is a program for children who have been diagnosed with a Specific Learning Disability (SLD) in Reading or a Language-Based Learning Disability (LBLD), such as dyslexia. In some cases, there may not be a specific diagnosis but a child has been identified through early literacy screening as “at risk” for reading difficulties. Our academic approach is cognitive in nature so potential students need to be at least in the average range of intellectual ability. Summer@Carroll is not designed to meet the needs of students with primary emotional or behavioral difficulties.
Beginning Readers is still accepting applications for 2014. However, we are "wait listing" students as current demand for the Grade 1-2 program exceeded the enrollement limit of 30 students. Wait listed students will fill any slots that come open between now and the end of May.
