Currently it is involved with studies investigating how brain systems for reading compare between skilled readers and readers with developmental dyslexia, predicting reading difficulty in young children and the impact of reading intervention on struggling readers. Other research efforts explore the neural correlates of intelligence, whether fluid intelligence can be enhanced by training, and how the brain changes when training is effective.

Friday, April 13, 2012 at 8:45 am (following the PA meeting)
Location: Great Hall, Waltham
There is substantial research by Carol Dweck of Stanford University and her colleagues indicating that a child's beliefs and attitudes with regard to learning -their mindset - have a deep impact on how they learn and their ultimate success. Parents who understand and act on these insights are more effective at helping their children learn. Carroll School teachers are working with these approaches in their teaching. This presentation will be the chance to learn more about applications of the latest knowledge about mindset to day-to-day interactions with children in a home environment.
