Bring Your Passport!

On a chilly winter morning, Carroll's students grabbed their passports and traveled to countries far away from Lincoln. They had an around the world trip, learning about different cultural traditions, savoring specialty foods, seeing flags of numerous countries, familiarizing themselves with diverse topography, and admiring traditional artwork from around the globe.

Students learned that Michoacan, Mexico is the largest gathering place in the world for monarch butterflies and that pizzelles are crispy wedding cookies made in Italy. They discovered that hummel-drummel means sad and crabbit means bad-tempered in Scottish, Pysankas are elaborately painted Ukranian eggs, Dala Hast are the colorfully painted Swedish horses crafted from wood, and the Didgeridoo is a wind instrument made from wood that emanates a mournful sound.

The Carroll School says "Thank you, Xie Xie, Grazie, Todah Raba, Danke, and Merci" to Pat Spence and the many Carroll parents and grandparents who made this a very memorable day.
