Earth Day 2009

On a sunny April morning, Carroll’s students participated in a wide array of Earth Day activities. The day began when the entire School community gathered for a groundbreaking ceremony and planted a dogwood tree in memory of Ted Mamet.

Following this ceremony, high school students spoke to Carroll’s Middle School about hydrogen fuel cell cars, and a representative from the GEM Company, engaged our students in valuable discussions about new “green” technologies for home plumbing, heating and cooling systems, ways to measure and improve energy efficiency, and more “green” innovations. Sixth Grade students enjoyed the morning at Walden Pond learning about Henry David Thoreau and reflecting about our relationship with the environment. The Lower School students explored the Wilkins' pond, read stories and listened to music all the time learning more about our living earth. The School gives special thanks to the teachers and staff who made this active learning day a great success.
