Carroll Community Loses a Friend and Valued Teacher

Ted Mamet died peacefully on Saturday, November 8th of undetermined causes. He was a Gym Teacher since 1980 and Director of Athletics at Carroll. Ted taught every student at Carroll coaching many of them in after school sports, master minded Fall Festival, and created the Extended Day Program. Ted was a highly skilled teacher with remarkable insights into children, families, and community.

More than that, Ted had a radar for when a child needed a little extra or when a colleague was in need of friendship or special attention. Ted was
a wise man who really understood people, young and old. We will miss his steady guidance, immense presence, and vast experience.

Over the next many weeks, we will find ways to talk with the children about how Ted was important to each of us. For most of the children, he was the great big coach who treated them with respect, kindness, firmness, and understanding. At this point, we simply want to make sure that the adults in the community are aware of this sad news. The faculty and staff have met together so that we are ready for our students' questions and concerns.
