Harvey Hubble Visits Carroll Community

Film Maker, Harvey Hubble, delighted the Carroll community with his sincere and honest discussion about learning ability, dyslexia, creating awareness in the public about dyslexia, and advocacy. "Why do we describe ourselves as dyslexics? Why do we introduce ourselves with what we aren’t good at? Why not say "I’m a picture thinker. I’m unusually creative, I solve problems, I’m extraordinarily compassionate, I see things you probably don’t....." Harvey’s newest venture is "Dislecksia: The Movie" which is humor-filled to be sure, but he also brought a group of parents to tears as they watched a few segments of the film. "Lots of dyslexic adults think being dyslexic is a really good thing, but very few school aged kids think that this repeated failure is good-- learning to benefit from struggle and failure is difficult," he commented. Harvey’s approach to 155 middle school children held them in focused attention for two hours as he encouraged them to talk about their dreams, their experiences, and sought their advice on how to change the world. Harvey’s website is www.capturedtimeproductions.com.
