It is time to state officially that we have completed the opening of the 08--09 school year. We can tell this in a number of ways:
- new students know their way around the campus and have made new social connections,
- veteran students have expressed their appreciation for returning to a place that knows how to teach them,
- leaves are falling off of trees,
- touring classrooms and tutorials, it is obvious that routines are well-established, and students are increasing their strategic learning skills,
-
teachers are beginning to write reports for the end of the first quarter of the year,
- the pickup area at Needham Station no longer smells of the massive amounts of pickle juice spilled from plastic jars dropped by children after Fall Festival, and
- carpool procedures are firmly established!
The opening of this year has been highly successful; it is stunning how much energy, persistence, love, and wisdom go into establishing high standards of performance and behavior at the start of a Carroll school year. |
