Management by Walking Around Update

It is time to state officially that we have completed the opening of the 08--09 school year. We can tell this in a number of ways:

1. new students know their way around the campus and have made new social connections,
2. veteran students have expressed their appreciation for returning to a place that knows how to teach them,
3. leaves are falling off of trees,
4. touring classrooms and tutorials, it is obvious that routines are well-established, and students are increasing their strategic learning skills,
5. teachers are beginning to write reports for the end of the first quarter of the year,
6. the pickup area at Needham Station no longer smells of the massive amounts of pickle juice spilled from plastic jars dropped by children after Fall Festival, and
7. carpool procedures are firmly established!

The opening of this year has been highly successful; it is stunning how much energy, persistence, love, and wisdom go into establishing high standards of performance and behavior at the start of a Carroll school year.
