 | | Strategic Glue Carroll has many types of glue that hold together our consistent educational and social experiences for our students. The faculty has been working steadily since January to develop yet another type of glue. In January, the Institute for Learning and Development, with Dr. Lynn Meltzer, led workshops on optimizing executive function during our Friday afternoon "Everyone at One" professional development time. Since February vacation, teaching teams have used the E@1 time to develop six strands of strategy use that will be implemented in a development sequence throughout the School. The strands are strategies for: remembering, comprehension, attention, organization, checking and monitoring, and transitioning. When we are done with the project, these six strategy strands will serve as a curriculum that will benefit each student as she or he moves through The Carroll School. This approach will create powerful students who will take these strategies with them when they leave Carroll. |
