Dyslexia Leadership Summit

Meeting at the Dyslexia Leadership SummitCarroll hosted a nine school dyslexia leadership summit during the last week in June for the purpose of establishing the impact that we have as a block of educators dedicated to the educational needs of students with dyslexia. Coming from across the country, these schools represent over 1,500 well-diagnosed children with language-based learning differences. We agreed to conduct a survey of the talents and strengths within this population, to engage in research partnerships with some of the nation's most prominent universities to better understand dyslexia, and to envision what our educational offerings should look like in a distinctly different information age. We welcomed some impressive researchers to collaborate with the group: Glenn Rosen, Beth Israel Deaconess; Kurt Fischer, Director of Harvard's Mind Brain Education Institute; Alan November, a consultant in educational learning communities; Elena Grigorenko, from Yale's Haskins Lab; and George Stiny, MIT professor of architecture and design.
