Graduation Day 2008

Bright sunshine, smiling faces, and an embracing community of faculty, family members, and trustees cheered the graduating 8th grade students and transitioning students from the Middle and Lower School on the second Friday in June. Steve Wilkins, Head of School, and Bill Copacino, Head of Carroll’s Board of Trustees, spoke about the many accomplishments of the graduating and transitioning students and the abundance of unique gifts that they have to contribute to the world.

Two students were recognized for their memorable contributions to their classmates and to the entire Carroll community. The Citizen’s Award was given to Ken, an 8th grade student who embodies the qualities of honesty, sensitivity, humility, willingness to help others, and one who made positive contributions to Carroll each day. The Head’s Award was given to Michael, a graduating student who was an outstanding citizen within the Carroll community and one who learned to advocate for himself, encourage others, demonstrate inquisitiveness, work at his highest level and achieve Honors consistently, and one who demonstrated leadership qualities throughout his years at Carroll.

Faculty members spoke to each graduating and transitioning student and recognized their individual academic achievements, abilities, and promising talents that they will bring to the world. From this supportive and embracing community, Carroll’s graduates confidently step into a wider world.
