Friday, 02/10/12 – PA Speaker Series: Dr. John Gabrieli, Investigations in Neuroimaging & Neuroplasticity

Friday, February 10, 2012 at 1:00 pm (part of our Faculty Development E@1 series)

Location:  Spaulding Auditorium, Lincoln

Dr. Gabrieli's lab at MIT works with children, adolescents, and adults to understand the brain basis of reading and language by using behavioral tools and neuroimaging tools (fMRI, EEG/ERP, and MEG). Currently it is involved with studies investigating how brain systems for reading compare between skilled readers and readers with developmental dyslexia, predicting reading difficulty in young children and the impact of reading intervention on struggling readers.  Other research efforts explore the neural correlates of intelligence, whether fluid intelligence can be enhanced by training, and how the brain changes when training is effective.
