THE SCHOOL-BASED INTERNSHIP/ MASTER’S DEGREE OF EDUCATION PROGRAM IN MODERATE DISABILITIES
United States Application Process Following are the steps that an applicant from the United States should follow. Applications Form & Fee Applicants must complete and submit the application form, www.lesley.edu/grad_admiss/content/application.pdf Application form must be accompanied by a check or money order of $40 US dollars made payable to The Carroll School. The application fee is non-refundable. College Transcripts Applicants must submit an official transcript from the institution(s) granting the undergraduate/graduate degree(s). Transcripts must be original documents bearing the official institutional stamp, and must be received in envelopes sealed by the sending institution. Degree(s) must be conferred by regionally accredited colleges or universities. If applicants are currently enrolled in a degree program, they should submit an official transcript of coursework taken to date. It is the applicant’s responsibility to forward the final official transcript upon completion of the degree program.
Teacher Certification/Licensure
As part of the Admissions process, all applicants seeking an Initial License must submit either:
- evidence of having taken the Communication & Literacy Skills MTEL or
- evidence of having registered for the Communication & Literacy Skills MTEL
Applicants who hold prior teaching certification/licensure must submit a copy of each certificate/license.
Recommendations (2)
Applicants are required to submit two recommendations from individuals with whom they have worked closely in a professional or academic setting. Recommendations from relatives or personal friends are not acceptable. Recommendations must be written within the last two years, and sent in sealed envelopes by the evaluator or faxed directly from the evaluator. Recommendation forms are available online. http://www.lesley.edu/grad_admiss/content/recommendation.pdf Written Personal Statement (2-3 Pages) A two- to three-page Written Personal Statement, typed and double spaced(10–12 point size recommended), is required of all applicants. The purpose of this statement is to give insight into the applicant’s level of motivation, sense of purpose in pursuing a degree program, writing skills, and personal/professional communication style. Care in preparation is strongly encouraged. This statement should be in narrative form and address the following questions: - In reflecting upon your personal and professional history, what forces have influenced your professional growth and contributed to your decision to seek admission to this Lesley University program?
- What are your long-term professional goals (i.e. new directions, opportunities, interests, skills, professional renewal, and/or work advancement), and how does this Lesley University program help you meet them?
- Is there any other information that you think would help the Admissions Committee to understand you better (i.e. special interests, publications, academic achievements, supervisors’ references, unusual career path, awards and/or honors, special accomplishments, leadership abilities)?
