THE GARSIDE INSTITUTE FOR TEACHER TRAINING
The Garside Institute for Teacher Training at The Carroll School was founded to provide teachers and tutors with courses that emphasize a direct, multisensory, and systematic approach based on principles that have proven effective in dealing with language-based learning disabilities. The goal is to make Carroll’s educational methods more widely accessible to teachers who are working with student populations similar to ours. GIFTT courses typically include classwork, demonstration lessons, observations, and consultations.
The Academic Year GIFTT course provides 90 hours of course work and 350 hours of supervised practicum, totaling 440 contact hours. The course is nationally accredited by the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practioners and Educators (AOGPE).
