CENTER FOR INNOVATIVE EDUCATION
 |
Applying leadership, research, and innovation
to generate powerful solutions for children with dyslexia |
Carroll’s Center for Innovative Education provides an outreach and research-and-development arm for a school serving bright children with language-based learning differences. The Center imports new information, thinking, and pedagogy from a dynamic, interdisciplinary field to Carroll and exports our expertise, leadership, and vision to the field. This import-export synergism strengthens Carroll’s internal (school) and external (outreach) capacities to meet needs of children with learning differences, wherever they may be.
Our vision is to transform the lives of today’s struggling learners—helping them acquire vital skills and harness strengths—and to advance the educational change that prevents learning difficulties in tomorrow’s schoolchildren. To realize this vision, we work where independent and public schools, general and special education, and research and practice intersect. Carroll’s Center for Innovative Education, an epicenter for innovation and leadership, is working to generate powerful educational solutions for children everywhere, particularly those who struggle with learning differences.
Our programs and projects include:
- Carroll Math—Carroll is rethinking math education and developing
revolutionary approaches to emphasize the role of thinking in math
instruction. Click here to learn about Carroll Summer Math Seminar!
- "Breaking Through"—an original production performed by Carroll School 7th and 8th graders to raise awareness about learning disabilities as well as the abilities that can accompany these learning challenges. Click here to learn about "Breaking Through".
- Professional Development Outreach—we export Carroll expertise
through in-service professional development and consulting for educators and schools.
