WOODWORKING OVERVIEW
One of the underlying principals at The Carroll School is that children learn best with multi-sensory approaches (visual, auditory, kinesthetic and tactile) to instruction. The woodworking program addresses the need for dyslexic children to work with concrete materials. The students apply academic knowledge in a practical way and add in their artistic expression. The program focuses on skill building, problem solving, and building self-esteem. The instruction focuses on designing, planning and constructing objects from wood. Students gain basic woodworking skills and knowledge of safe hand and power tool use.
