PHYSICAL EDUCATION PROGRAM
The goals of the Physical Education Department are to develop and improve motor skills and brain functions, to build self-confidence and teamwork, promote community spirit, and the worthy use of leisure time.
All Lower and Middle physical education classes are team-taught. One instructor works with the class while the other instructor works one-on-one with children. Lesson plans are developed so that the instructors can use drills and games to isolate specific skills, and to develop activities to provide learning situations through which students can express themselves. What do the kids actually do? Students work on spatial awareness, body awareness, flexibility, loco motor skills, lower and upper body strength, eye-hand coordination skills, eye-foot coordination skills, gross motor skills, fine motor skills, along with strength and endurance. This is done through a variety of traditional and non-traditional physical education activities. - Beginner Readers through Grade 3:
