2. Are you a private school or a public school?
The Carroll School is a private, independent school. The term "independent" identifies schools which are free-standing, non-profit organizations, governed by Boards of Trustees that represent no particular interest group, independent of control by any government. Subject to oversight of its state Board of Education, an independent school is free to establish its own goals, to determine its admission criteria, and to select curricula, teachers and students to carry out the School's mission, which is reviewed regularly by the Board of Trustees.
